Most could not imagine sitting and having a romantic and relaxing dinner while watching a bellowing and fiery glow of one of the world’s most active volcano. Who in the world would ever think of building a hotel and restaurant at the edge of a volcano crater where sulfur, steam, magma, and the possibility of the entire establishment falling with a massive earthquake?

Of course the possibility of having my dinner table fall into a smoldering caldera a hundred or more feet below me did cross my mind, but staring into the eyes of one of the most beautiful women in the world made me forget the possibility of becoming another sacrifice of the Hawaiian Goddess name Pele. The Volcano House is a relaxing drive heading south from Hilo along Hwy 19. The ambiance of this unique place along with great conversation with my wife Mindy made the possibility of a natural disaster from happening seemed almost too-bad-to-be-true as we become engulfed like a couple on a first date, but only better because there are no secrets or hidden emotions that comes with the burden of courtship.

Even if you have just started to explore the woman of your dreams that grabs hold of your every thought or you have been with your partner for eons and want to re-ignite that spark of romance, this place delivers exceptional meals, ambiance, and a mesmerizing reflective red glow that is constantly stirring upward. If you ever get lost in finding spicy or suggestive words to say on this special evening, you can turn toward the large unobstructed windows and say, “Did you see that?” and watch the ever-changing dazzling event overtake that moment of awkwardness as your mind starts to regroup to find a phrase to impress.

You may want to stay close to this restaurant by booking a room here or check out other places that offer beautiful lodging where the flavor of local elegance can also be found at different locations on this rare island: www.stayhawaii.com.  As you depart from this romantic experience, you may be distracted by the one of two gifts shop where locally-made unique gifts can be found. We couldn’t help but pick up a few items to send back to our relatives. The end of the night was a very special moment with being at the 4000 feet level. The chill in the air made my wife draw close to me as her hand went from my own to placing her arm around my waist and her head toward my shoulder to seek security and warmth within the mist of this crisp evening. It started off not knowing where to celebrate a special time for dinner to a night of allure and magic that added another impression that reinforces the love in relationships.

We hope you have an even better experience!
